The Artist in Residence Program is an opportunity for Qatari artists who want to expand and upgrade their professional outreach through an intercultural exchange and by being introduced and exposed to the Latin American market.
The four-weeks program will provide three Qatari artists the opportunity to travel to Mexico in June 2022, offering them the chance to focus on their projects by providing flight fare, accommodation, studio space, mentorship, art supplies allowance, travel insurance and cultural tourism related activities.
All artistic work developed must follow the artistic direction of our 2022 edition: People, Places and Spaces.
The final work and research will be displayed in an exhibition celebrated in Doha, Qatar.
Creatively speaking, the work will vary depending on your skills and the locations you may visit.

No. The Artist in Residence Program is designed for emerging and established creatives who are already able to work on their projects by themselves. However, mentoring sessions and the ABLA Speaker Series will be provided as part of the program.
The outcome must portray the connection and relationship between the host country’s people and their space, environment and surroundings.
Cultural tourism activities will take place along the four weeks so the participants truly connect with the environment and organically become familiar with the space and people of the visited country.
